Jerry Young was a legendary distance runner and coach in the State of Michigan. Harriers & Thinclads honors Jerry's 26 years of service to Farmington High School Cross Country and Track & Field.

Meet Objectives

To create a unique and dynamic track environment for competing athletes and viewing spectators.
To honor Jerry Young for 26 years of service coaching Farmington High School Cross Country and Track & Field.
To provide athletes the opportunity to run a 1600 -or- 3200 PR utilizing world-class pacing technology primarily available at elite national high school events.

The Why...

It is common for coaches to time trial their athletes on the track after the cross-country season.
Athletes are in peak condition from a full cross-country season - quite possibly the best shape they’ll be in all year.
“I wonder what I could run in the 3200 or 1600 on the track?” is a statement commonly made by cross-country athletes at the end of the season.
Track times are a more universal language than cross-country times.
The meet falls after the MHSAA Cross Country State Meet (11/1) and before the MITCA Mideast Qualifier at Shepherd (11/8).
